SFMHCRA Advocacy

Our focus is on helping you achieve your self-stated goals in each situation

This Is SFMHCRA

San Francisco Mental Health Clients’ Rights Advocates is the state-mandated Patients Rights Advocacy office for the City and County of San Francisco. SFMHCRA also serves clients’ family members.

SFMHCRA is independent of the city agencies and other nonprofits that serve these clients, and our advocates have no clinical or administrative responsibility to the programs offering services. So they act solely on your behalf.

The job of MHCRA’s advocates is to help you resolve any issues you may have about your treatment. The advocates are knowledgeable, trained in applicable governmental codes and policies, and are aware of referral options and how to access them. The  advocates’ focus is on helping you achieve your self-stated goals in each situation.

You tell MHCRA’s advocates what you want the outcome to be, and they help you get that.

All communication with MHCRA advocates is considered confidential unless the client agrees to share the information
